A Windsock...
Kenna sewed her first windsock in CTE this year and Wyatt's already claimed it and hung it on the shutters in his room!

Bees Game...
I was lucky enough to go with Ashlyn and her 5th grade friends to their Bees game field trip! Ashlyn is one fun girl who is a friend to everyone. She is a doll. About halfway through the game a fly ball came over into our section...I knew I could get it but in the process of leaping for it I knocked over one of Ashlyn's cute friends, but I almost had it in my hands, until I looked up and saw another 5th grader looking at me and then the ball...I let go and he grabbed it. Ashlyn was just a little embarrassed!

Golden Eagles...
Colter loves golden eagles, always has and I think he always will. I think it comes from driving up to Falcon's Ledge and dad always pointing out the golden eagles along the way....but I'm not sure. In 3rd grade he needed to pick an animal to report on and of course, the golden eagle is what he choose...

Wyatt's Favorite Skatepark...
Before heading out to Kenna's game in Eden, we had to make a quick stop to pick up Colt from his baseball practice...while we waited for Colt, Wyatt jumped on his scooter and had a blast at the skatepark. He is a little daredevil and such a fun kid!! He makes me smile!

Last Game with La Roca...
Kenna's team finished their season with a final win and came in 1st place.
With 1st place, they also moved up into Premier level...
After each game, the girls always cheer for those of us on the sidelines cheering for them...it's a great tradition. I love this photo of the girls huddled together singing the La Roca song for what might be the last time.
For the girls' last game, Tanisha, Emily and I brought Subway and had cookies made for the girls to celebrate. While the girls ate dinner, the parents chatted with TJ and Adolfo (founder of La Roca)...right now, we are at a crossroads with La Roca. We've had many great years with La Roca, but feel it's time for a change and many girls on the team feel the same way. We've been contacted by her old coach, Ray, to come over to Forza to be coached by him and after meeting with him, we feel it's time for a change...maybe in a year I'll be writing that we wish we would have stayed with La Roca, but right now, we feel good about this move. Try-outs are next week so we'll see what comes...

Sidewalk Chalk...
I walked outside last night to get in the car to go grocery shopping and found Colt, Ash and Wyatt coloring away on the driveway...there wasn't any fighting or teasing and they were actually talking so nice to each other. It was heaven! Colt drew a tiger, Wyatt drew a bunch of blue fish and Ashlyn had drawn a sailboat, sun and the sea...so cute and then I drove over it with dad's car and today it rained and washed it all away. Glad I took some pictures.

Wyatt's Preschool Graduation...
I don't remember crying at McKenna's preschool graduation, or Ashlyn's or even Colt's and I really didn't think I would cry during Wyatt's preschool graduation...but small tears came when I looked at my baby, and for a few moments I just quietly cried tears of complete happiness as I watched this happy, fun-loving, carefree boy of mine thrive and enjoy being 5...Garrett knew I would cry! I love this man and this boy!

Ashlyn's 5th Grade Program...
We are down to the last month of school and that means programs and lots of field trips. Tomorrow I'm going with Ashlyn's class to the Bees game, then next week it's Surf-n-Swim, Layton Park and the Bird Refuge and Field Day. Ashlyn loves school, loves her teacher every year and gets along with everyone...especially the boys!

Colt's Mohawk...
Colt has beautiful golden hair and it's getting pretty long and shaggy and soon will be too hot for summer. He's been begging again to have a buzz and again I'm hesitating because I just love his hair. Well, tonight he won out, but before I buzzed him, he got his first official mohawk...just for the night and then we finished the job in the morning after piano...no one saw or Garrett might get grief from some of the priests he's after to cut their hair

A Sweet Moment...
The other day Wyatt and I were at the church distribution center. I was at the register and Wyatt was just a few feet away looking at pictures...he came back to my side, patted my leg and pointing to a picture, said "Mom, look there's the 12 apostles, just like there were 12 apostles when Jesus was on earth." I smiled at this cute little five year-old who is already gaining his own testimony and bent down to squeeze his little body. I held his hand and walked back over to the picture of the Quorum of the Twelve and asked Wyatt to tell me more about the picture. He noticed another picture right next to it with President Monson, President Eyring and President Utchdorf and looked up to me and smiled and said "Mom, because Jesus isn't here anymore, President Monson is guiding our church." It was the most tender moment...I testified to him that I know President Monson is our prophet and I know we should follow him. I sqoke his little hand tight in mine and told him over and over how much i love my little monkey!!

Mother's Day...
It's tough being a mom! I told Garrett the other day that I miss having my little babies all around because I really feel that was a lot easier...no talking back, we had control of pretty much all they did, as little ones they were quick to obey. Now there's more teasing between the kids, more bugging each other, less jump in their step as I ask them to walk the dog or vacuum...it's tough...but all in all our kids are amazing and I really do love being a mom. It's just harder than I ever imagined. My mom made it look easy! So, the other day I called my mom after losing my temper with the girls. I needed wisdom. Their room is never clean and I'm going crazy because I feel like I need them to have order in their room. I'm just tired of hearing their room is clean then going down to check and it's still a total disaster (somehow don't they see the food dishes, the dirty clothes stuffed in the corners and anything else you could ever imagine still on the floor!!)
I needed my mom's counsel on how she dealt with me as a young girl because I know my room wasn't always clean, and yet I never remember her making a big deal out of it...she never let it hurt our relationship. She gave me some great advice and for the past two weeks I've taken it to heart and I'm not harping on my girls anymore to clean their rooms...I'm letting them just live in their rooms. Every once in a while I'll ask if they can go tidy up their rooms, but i don't even check!! It really hasn't been tough to let it go, I think because I realize that I don't want anything to come in between my girls feeling like they can come to me about anything or talking to me about life...I know this will help. It's also freeing for me and I'm sure for the girls too :) thanks, mom for always being a mom. Even though I'm almost 40 I still need your wisdom!!
Mother's Day was great...after church I even got to take a nap and while I slept, my cute Colter boy made this sign and hung it all by himself. What a stud! He truly knows how to make my day! We ate dinner at grandma and grandpa Nichol's and enjoyed the beautiful place settings my mom put out. She had one table decorated with grandma Gutke's china and a beautiful picture of her as a young mom and another with grandma Berk's china and her picture, too. It was perfect! We also visited great grandma Sill and grandma and grandpa Sill, but grandma wasn't feeling too well, just getting over a sinus cold so our visit was short. I have great mom's to look up to...I hope my girls will say the same thing in 20 years!
