Choices...

Soccer try-outs were held last week. Usually it's a time of butterflies and nervousness, but this year there was more excitement and anticipation for McKenna.
This past year, she has become a full-time goalie. Going to goalie training, practicing in the yard any chance she gets and really coming to truly love being a keeper. She was always a great field player, but definitely excels in this position and goalies are always in high demand...good goalies are!
Friday afternoon I got a call from Will, one of the Premier team coaches, asking if McKenna would play for his team. What a huge compliment to McKenna! With few goalies in her age group and with her skills, we knew this was a possibility, but on her player card we marked that she wanted to stay on a Select team and deep down hoped that most of her current team would stay together with Ray as their coach. Premier teams are more money, more intensive, more out-of-state travel which means more Sunday play, which McKenna doesn't do, and even with Will knowing this he still wanted her.
Garrett was in California and in meetings all day so I couldn't call him...good thing for texting. In the longest text I've ever sent, I told him about my conversation with Will and all that would come with being on a Premier team...more money, more time, more...and he texted back "Way to go...have her pray about it and let her make the decision, money shouldn't hold her back." It really was that simple...ask Heavenly Father for guidance and then follow the prompting.
McKenna did just that and has decided to stay with Ray and the team she loves. This was a tough decision, but once she prayed about it, it really wasn't tough at all and in the end when her decision was made and we talked with Ray about it, he let her know Will would love to have her guest play for him at out-of-state tournaments and games throughout the year.
Truly the best of both worlds, plus with her starting jr. high she's going to have to learn to balance more homework and hopefully being on the jr. high volleyball team...if everything works out the way she has planned!!
