Finally piano lessons seem to be paying off. This year, Mindi had Kenna, Ash and Colt all choose songs that would push their abilities and then dad offered them 20 bucks each if they would memorize their recital pieces....they took the challenge and Ash and Colt memorized theirs. I have loved hearing them play their pieces just out of the blue during the day and especially on weekends when they have more time home. Kenna chose to play Ashlyn played and Colt debuted 'Take me out to the Ballgame." It was a great night! Ashlyn has been so diligent on her piece and has had it memorized for about a month, but during the recital she had a blank on one part, she paused for a few seconds and then picked it up again...there were a few tears as she walked back to her seat and my heart broke for her...of all the kids she has worked the hardest and has practiced the most. It was hard to see her feel so bad. On the way out, Mindi, put her arm around Ash and quietly told her how proud she was of her because she just kept on going, she didn't start over or stop. I can learn a lot from this girl! After the recital, we came back to the house to celebrate Colt's 9th birthday with cake and ice cream and presents of Legos.
