Well, last month in church, the announcement was made that the daddy/daughter overnighter would be on that same weekend. Garrett had a tough decision ahead of him. The girls knew he was planning to be in Minneapolis the same weekend as the campout and told me they were kind of bummed that they wouldn't be able to go. I told them to talk to dad about it. One night they asked him what he was planning to do...I thought for sure he would tell them that he would just make it up to the girls and do something with them another weekend, but instead he said he could go to the PGA anytime and that spending time with his girls was more important than anything else...I stood in the background and wanted to say "no, babe...just go on your trip, the girls will understand," but instead I just stood quietly and watched as the girls hugged him endlessly...definitely the right choice!
McKenna and Malorie...

Greg and two of his girls, Sarah and Emily - Jessie was busy getting ready to leave for Utah State on Monday...

McKenna is holding a helpless little grasshopper...Malorie's face says it all!

Nice fake sleeping, girls - they have it down pat...it's exactly what they do when we go to their room for the 10th time to tell them to please go to sleep...
They had a great time throwing the football around, roasting twinkies over the fire, goofing around and pretending to be asleep so dad could take some pictures, making and shooting rockets and just being with their dad.Good Morning, girls...

These next pictures tell the whole story of 'the rocket and the river'...so, McKenna made this awesome rocket to shoot off. She walked up to the launcher and gently set it up. Just then, Greg gets a great idea to tilt the launcher just a little, so rather than the rocket going straight up it shoots it outa little further. At this point in the story I stopped McKenna as she's telling me the tale and said "that's a great idea!" That's not what she wanted to hear - I didn't know there was a huge, deep river just beyond the trees. Well, I guess her rocket went pretty far - way out into the trees, towards the river. McKenna watched it go further and further away and with every second she got sadder and sadder thinking her rocket was lost (Garrett even said she had tears in her eyes...ooh). Greg felt horrible, so off they went on a search for the rocket...it landed barely a foot from the river. Lucky! Greg was feeling pretty sad, but he made it up to McKenna by giving her a big Hershey's chocolate bar at church yesterday...what a great guy!

Whew...what lucky ducks!
