Garrett was able to spend a night up at girls camp and I was able to come up for the traditional Thursday night testimony meeting. Before testimony meeting, the stake meets together to hear from a guest speaker and this year we were able to hear from Meg Johnson, a beautiful woman who is a quadriplegic. She was funny, grateful, smart, beautiful, witty and bore testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ and her role as His daughter...she shined with the light of Christ that comes only from knowing Jesus Christ and being like Him and everyone noticed.
She is an amazing example of all we can do if we don't let ourselves complain and look for the worst in ourselves. If we just believe we are Daughters of a King. She brought the spirit and by the end of the night everyone was in tears and everyone was in love with her. Someone asked her if she could re-do the day she had her accident, would she still take that jump and she adamantly said "Yes, it's changed who I am." I'm so grateful McKenna has opportunities like this and others at camp to feel the spirit and to come closer to her Heavenly Father and elder brother, Jesus Christ.
Testimony meeting was wonderful and then Garrett stood to end the meeting. This year at camp it rained everyday...heavy downpours and then it would be clear again. As we met for testimony meeting that night, the clouds were dark and heavy just to the north of us and they were coming in our direction. But as we sat through the girls' testimonies that night we noticed the lightening and thunder pass right by us and head to the east. Not a drop fell on us and just to the east we could see that a down pour was happening. As Garrett closed the meeting he told all the girls of this miracle. That our Heavenly Father is mindful of all we do and that having the bad weather pass right by us was a miracle. He then offered the closing prayer and pronounced a blessing upon these young women. It was beautiful and so tender. Garrett is an amazing man and he follows the spirit with such exactness...so great faith I have never seen!
