While off-track one thing the kids looked forward to was going to Hogle Zoo. Wyatt was especially excited to ride the train and the girls have loved watching Wyatt's excitement whenever they would talk to him about riding the zoo train...we talked about it often, so we were just a little disappointed when we got to the zoo to find out that the train was down for repair - it took a minute to get over our disappointment, but then Colter reminded us that we were really at the zoo to see all of the animals...the train was just a bonus. He was so right...what a cute boy! We had one of the funnest days ever at the zoo!
Of course we had to stop and drink from the lion...
The girls loved watching Colter and Wyatt's excitement as we saw all the different animals. McKenna loved seeing the Fossa in the Madagascar Exhibit and Ashlyn's favorites were the bats. Wyatt still cannot stop talking about the crocodiles and Colter loved all of the monkeys, especially the 'praying' monkey...Wyatt and Colter couldn't stop laughing after seeing this monkey who looked like he was praying - the rest of the day, anytime anyone would mention the 'praying monkey' Wyatt would bust out in a huge belly laugh, which made the rest of us laugh, too. This little monkey in this picture kept coming over to the boys...of all the people there, he would just hang out in front of Colt and Wyatt...the kids loved that!
Hogle Zoo has grown and changed so much with lots of new additions, especially the beautiful new carousal...we all loved it!! We'll be back to the zoo again this summer, but this time I'll call to make sure the train is working...
After the zoo we headed up to Midway for the night to swim and play and spend some time with grandpa Nichol and enjoy the last few nights before going back for the last 3 weeks of school before summer break...I have loved having this last little break to enjoy swimming at the pools all by ourselves and playing at the zoo before the crowds of people hit all the summer spots.
